The “Advancing People, Health & Place” research initiative recently received funding from the Global Programs Faculty Research Fund which supported a workshop at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil in early June. Convened by Professor Rodrigo Reis, facilitated by Fulbright Visiting Researcher Ana Luiza Favarão Leão and co-ordinated by Research Manager Aine O’Connor, the workshop focused on identifying gaps, opportunities, and challenges related to the impact of local factors on population health and health disparities in Brazil utilizing a system dynamics group model. The event featured interdisciplinary discussions, emphasizing the integration of multiple disciplines and research methods to address complex challenges related to health, environment, and urban settings.
