Celebrating the Lunar New Year and coming together for Ramadan Iftar

The Global Programs Office celebrated Lunar New Year on February 9 – an event celebrated by billions of people across the world on the first new moon of their calendar. Our community came together to share a meal, and painted Chinese calligraphy to welcome in the New Year.

The team also hosted a Ramadan dinner (iftar) on April 5. Iftar is the evening meal that Muslims eat to break their fast during Ramadan, often eaten communally, just after the call to the Maghrib prayer, around sunset. Professor Younasse Tarbouni, Teaching Professor of Arabic spoke about Arabic calligraphy and diners were treated to henna tattoos.
