Drs. Lindsay Stark, Julia López, and Jeremy Goldbach (in collaboration with the Women’s Refugee Commission) organized a summit Guadalajara, Mexico, focusing on the unique challenges of LGBTQ+ migrants and asylum seekers. The summit convened 11 organizations to address critical issues such as violence, discrimination, and inadequate systemic support. The participants created a collective statement on priorities for serving the LGBTQ+ migrant population calling for enhanced protection systems for migrants and their defenders, tailored services for intervention and prevention, and expanded shelter capacities. This joint effort represents a significant stride toward improving the rights and well-being of LGBTQ+ migrants globally.
