Danielle Sarraf, an MBA/MPH student, has been recognized as one of the 10 “Students Who Rocked Public Health 2024” by the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice (JPHMP). This honor highlights her remarkable contributions to public health innovation and leadership, demonstrating how dedication and ingenuity can tackle pressing challenges and drive meaningful change in communities.
A magna cum laude graduate from WashU in 2022, Danielle now serves as a research manager at the Brown School, where she collaborates with Drs. Lindsay Stark and Ilana Seff on projects centered on the health and psychosocial well-being of marginalized populations, including survivors of gender-based violence and adolescent refugees.
“I grew up admiring my father’s global impact as an ophthalmologist and believed direct patient care was the best way to contribute to health care. However, I later realized my strengths were better suited to address systemic health issues on the population level through public health and business. Therefore, I aim to create an impact by improving community health, addressing the social determinants of health and promoting equitable access to quality care.”

Her work has prominently featured the Study of Adolescent Lives After Migration to America (SALaMA), an initiative addressing mental health issues within marginalized communities. Danielle has been instrumental in managing and implementing two impactful initiatives under SALaMA: PhotoVoice, which empowers community members to share their experiences of displacement and identity through photography, and Forward with Peers, a program designed to foster community connection.
Looking ahead, Danielle aims to leverage her interdisciplinary training to make lasting contributions to healthcare and public health, informed by a global perspective.
