Cultural Showcase 2025: A reflection of our global community

This year’s performances highlighted both cultural pride and personal storytelling. We took a journey around the world including a Native American Hoop Dance, Brazilian rhythms from Professor Rodrigo Siqueira Reis and Milena Franco Silva, as well as Nepalese folk and Chinese fan dances. The tempo was then lowered for reflections on the Islamic faith by Professor Atia Thurman, and “The Art of the Headwrap for Mental Wellness” by Dr. Juliet Iwelunmor and Carmen Dillman. The evening culminated in a powerful musical celebration of unity and belonging through Ghanaian music by Professor William Effah and bandmates, and an opportunity to explore the cultural tables from Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia to Nepal, Nigeria and Philippines. Once again, the showcase served as a vivid expression of shared humanity and belonging – a testament to the Brown School’s core commitment to global inclusion.
